On February 25, 2025, we had the pleasure of meeting with a group of experts and representatives of organisations involved in carbon capture, transport, utilisation, and storage technologies.
The meeting served not only as an information session, but also as an excellent opportunity to summarise our activities to date and present our plans for the future.
Summary of Activities of the CCUS Poland Association
The CCUS Poland Association was established as a continuation of the cluster-based activities initiated within the CCUS.pl project, funded by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) under the GOSPOSTRATEG III programme. After the project’s completion, thanks to the initiative of the AGH University of Science and Technology’s Centre of Energy and with the support of other partners, we created a platform that brings together stakeholders and supports the development and implementation of CCUS technologies in Poland.
Our objectives include:
- actively contributing to the development of legal and systemic regulations for CCUS technologies,
- building public acceptance for the CCUS technology chain in Poland,
- integrating business and scientific communities around this technology, which is key to the energy and industrial transition.
Plans for 2025
In 2025, the Association will focus on several key areas. Collaboration with the Ministry of Climate and Environment will continue, particularly in the revision of the Geological and Mining Law, as well as other legal and systemic frameworks relevant to the functioning of the CCUS sector in Poland.
One of our main priorities will be active participation in legislative processes concerning underground CO₂ storage and transport, with the aim of establishing stable and transparent legal conditions for the sector’s development.
Another important area of activity is building public acceptance for CCUS technologies. In 2025, we plan to implement information and educational campaigns to raise awareness of the benefits of CCUS. In parallel, we will continue to promote the technology through media outreach and industry events. Supporting the development of CCUS clusters and hubs in Poland also remains a top priority, as it fosters more effective integration of stakeholders operating in this space.
Membership in the CCUS Poland Association
The Association is continuously expanding its membership and encourages cooperation with businesses, research institutions, and non-governmental organisations. The process of joining is described in detail on our website, where interested parties can find information about the application procedure and membership principles. (Join Us)
Closing Remarks
The information meeting served as an opportunity to reaffirm the growing importance of CCUS technologies for Poland’s energy and industrial sectors. The joint efforts of the Association, public administration, and business aim to create the right conditions for the dynamic development of this technology in Poland.
We thank all participants for their active involvement and commitment. We look forward to continued collaboration and shared action in support of effective CO₂ emissions reduction in Poland.
