We invite you to the Bio-CO2 Use & Removal 2026 Conference (5 May 2026) in Helsinki.

On May 5, 2026, Helsinki will host Bio-CO2 Use & Removal 2026 - Finland’s premier event dedicated to carbon capture and permanent carbon removal technologies. Organized by the Bioenergia ry association in collaboration with VTT and Finnish Energy, the conference brings together key experts and decision-makers from across Europe to discuss the future of biogenic CO2.

The event’s program focuses on practical solutions and EU regulations regarding carbon removal. Speakers will include Fabien Ramos from the European Commission, who will outline the EU’s legal framework, as well as representatives from innovative companies such as Carbon Centric and Stora Enso, who will present actual implementation projects. The entire event will be conducted in English, facilitating international knowledge transfer.

An important substantive element of the conference will be the participation of Dr. Paweł Gładysz, President of the Board of the CCUS Poland Association, who will represent our organization in a panel discussion. The panel discussion, featuring representatives from various regions of Europe, will allow for a comparison of Polish experiences with those of Finnish and Scandinavian leaders in the Bio-CCUS sector.

Participants will also have a unique opportunity for on-site learning. The day before the conference, May 4, 2026, there will be a study visit to the Vantaa Energy facility. Participants will visit the waste-to-energy plant, where Vantaa Carbon Capture is being implemented - Finland’s first industrial-scale CO2 capture and storage project.

The CCUS Poland Association actively monitors trends in the field of bio-based carbon capture (BECCS), and our presence in Helsinki is another step toward building Poland’s strong position in the European debate on negative-emission technologies.
